Well, it’s almost spring. It was 60 yesterday here in Chicago and today is supposed to get to 65! While there is no official sign of spring yet – no color ANYWHERE – it was still awesome to wear a dress with no tights and flats today to work! Heaven for a pregnant lady. I came home yesterday and did some major nursery organizing and mounted a shelf I have had sitting around since our trip to IKEA. I opened the windows and back porch door and let some much needed fresh air into the house. I had such a burst of energy! I attribute it to the warmer weather, the 1 hour of extra daylight after I get off work and the impending baby boy about to come into our lives. Yesterday was the first time I had actually felt good for a while – i.e. I didn’t just come home and lay on the couch until bed time.
I also started working on a little board over at Pinterest yesterday called “If it were a girl…”. It’s still in progress, but I wanted to challenge myself to figure out a little girl’s nursery that wasn’t over the top girly, but still feminine. In other words, a place that didn’t look like an American Doll vomited everywhere.
Here are a couple pieces (I’ll post the whole board once it’s done!):
Currently my dreams of fixing up a vintage Airstream trailer and traveling the country with my hubby and 2 cats is on hold. But that doesn’t mean I don’t still spend A LOT of time drooling over the many fix-em-up projects out there.
My first all-time fav airstream out there right now is this lovely guy:
Dwell - The Airstream Life
Check out the full slideshow here!
Then there is this one:
Hoffman Architecture 1978 Airstream
See the awesome before and after pics here.
Ok, Design Within Reach (or Design Out of Reach as my friends like to call it) has created an Airstream trailer outfitted with such furnishings as a Nelson Ball Clock, a pair of Tripolina chairs and some Heller Dinnerware. Sounds expensive? It probably is. But still awesome:

And now, and idea I can really get behind, an Airstream Creative Hotel in the middle of the Texan dessert:
El Cosmico Readymade Airstream
Check out the slideshow here.
Now tell me you don’t want to just pick up and start traveling the US in one of these bad boys!
I had been hearing a lot of buzz over the past month or so in the blogosphere about “Pinterest”. It’s basically a way to pin or tag images you see on the internet onto a board. I signed up for an invitation about a week ago and yesterday received my login and password. I set up my first “board” as a way to show all the items that make up our nursery. Check it out here: http://pinterest.com/ambersiscoe/our-nursery/
I wanted to do a round up of all the super cute free printables I have been seeing out there lately. I need to go buy some stock paper stat!!

A few weeks ago I ran into a post on Modern Kiddo about taking a vintage photo and rephotographing it in it’s original setting. I thought, how awesome is that! The photos they featured were inspiring. I was headed down to my childhood home for one last visit with my family before the baby comes and since my grandma has lived in her house for 30+ years I thought, I am sure I can find some photos to try out! So here are my results:
My Mom in Grandma's Backyard
Grandparents in the Kitchen
Me in the Kiddy Pool in Grandparent's Backyard - I really wish this one had turned out clearer!
It was actually hard to get the little point & shoot I have to get the depth right and have them come out relatively clear. The last one didn’t quite come out as well as I had hoped. But it was a fun project to try out!
Check out the post over at Modern Kiddo for some great picture in picture pictures!
I love Blik. I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I have posted previously about using Bliks in our nursery (Wee Gallery) and it seems like everyday they come up with something new and cool I want to use somewhere in our house! So when I got the Blik email today and saw these awesome LA themed magnets (a first for the company) I knew I wanted some for little Baby V to be. Maybe Chicago-themed? How cool would that be!

Since they are custom made (boo) you can’t buy them from Blik. But maybe they will start selling kiddo sized magnets soon! One can only hope…

We have an IKEA here in Chicago. I remember that I had just started college when it first opened. And it was a revelation let me tell you. Well, I have been a faithful follower ever since, and while my tastes have gotten better (goodbye futon, hello Room & Board couch) I am still an IKEA adherent. There are still many IKEA products around the house that could use a refreshing! Well I came across this site today and must share the amazingness within! It’s called Mykea and it’s a full line of products meant to work specifically with IKEA items. So customize your MALMs and BILLYs to your heart’s content!
Check out Mykea here!
There is another 5 inches of snow predicted for Chicago tonight. So I thought, screw it!! I am getting in the springy, happy, baby-coming, life-changing mood, dammit. And no amount of snow is gonna stop it! So check out some awesome happy-time inducing interweb finds!
